Goa, the land of shinny beaches fringed by exotic palm tree and breathtaking sightseeing could be a dream land for anyone’s sojourn.
The richest state of India is now the best place for a child to be born. According the latest estimation done by sample Registration System (SRS) and data released by the Registrar General of India, it is found that Goa is having the least Infant Mortality Rates (IMR) of 11 which means that in the state 11 deaths are reported per 1000 live births.
According to the report, it is estimated that India’s infant mortality rate has dropped by 3 points from 53 during 2008 to 50 infant deaths per 1000 live births during 2009.
Kerala is second best state to be born after Goa, which is followed by Manipur, Puducherry and Daman & Diu.
Madhya Pradesh is found to have the worst IMR of 67 and considered to be the worst place for any child to be born.
Various reasons are found to be responsible for the IMF, which has improved substantially over the years. Programs like program like paying to pregnant women to deliver their child in a hospital helps tremendously in proving the situations.
Respective state governments have started various rural programs to educate women about pregnancy. It is because of all such initiatives that the IMR of rural India is managed to drop from 58 to 55.
