Jodi Bieber, free lancer photographer for Time Magazine has won the World Press Photo of the Year 2010 with the picture of Bibi Aisha, which was published on the front cover of Times magazine’s August edition.
Bibi Aisha is a18-year-old woman from Oruzgan province in Afghanistan, who had suffered gruesome violence at her husband’s house, fled away to her parent’s house. Later, obeying the order to a Taliban leader her own husband has sliced off her ears and hacked off her nose.

Aisha, which was abandoned by Taliban, was later emancipated by aid workers and the American military. She is currently residing in USA.
Jodi Bieber is a noted free lancer photographer who is based in South Africa and works for Artist Management. Since 1998, she has contributed numerous spellbound photographs for which she has already won World Press Photo award for 8 times.
The father in law who too was indulged in abusing and torturing Aisha has been arrested. However, the main executor of her heinous affliction and disfigurement, her husband is still not been caught up by the Afghan police.
Aisha is a poised, charming and witty young woman and to commemorate her “The Bibi Aisha Fund” have been formed by Women for Afghan Women (WAW) foundation which is taking care Aisha ever since this horrific act done to her.
